'The Wall Street Journal' names DoC under-the-radar NY experience
The Wall Street Journal's Tony Perrottet included Death of Classical's upcoming season in his list of under-the-radar NY experiences. Of the upcoming season, he said:
"The avant-garde music producer Death of Classical established its reputation by finding acoustically excellent and unusual settings for concerts, like in the catacombs of Brooklyn’s Green-Wood cemetery, where robber barons and artists alike rest in peace. More recently the company has moved inside, and beneath, ravishing churches in upper Manhattan.
For the 2025 season, venues will include the crypts of the vast, unfinished Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the world’s largest Gothic cathedral, which has been under construction since 1892. The underground New York concert halls heighten the pleasure of hearing virtuoso musicians perform 18th-century baroque works and premieres by contemporary composers."
