The Crypt Sessions: Fall 2022 Season

Hello beloved friends,

We are thrilled to announce the fall season of The Crypt Sessions, featuring performances from new and returning artists.

The season begins on September 12 with pianist Inna Faliks playing her recently-recorded Reimagine Ravel program that contrasts Gaspard de la Nuit with three NY Premiere pieces by Paola Prestini, Billy Childs and Timo Andres, each in response to a movement of that work.

On September 29, violinist Lara St. John will perform music from her new release ♀she/her/hers, a project that's a part of her larger mission to fight for women's rights and historically marginalized groups.

On October 14, harpist Parker Ramsay will give the NY Premiere of Nico Muhly and Alice Goodman’s The Street, a profound, provocative exploration of Christ’s crucifixion from condemnation to interment.

On October 27, pianist James Carson (who performs under the moniker of Cabin Music) will celebrate the release of his debut album The Story of Birds by exploring the transformative, transcendent space of the Crypt via his unique, personally-developed form of music making that exists in a space between composition and improvisation, removing the performer's intentions and instead receiving and channeling all forces and energies that are present, both within and beyond the performance space, resulting in spiritual concert experiences hailed as “meditative” (Time Out New York), “trance-inducing” (Feast of Music), and “delicate music surrounded by the aura of silence” (Boston Phoenix).

Throughout the month of November, Death of Classical will present CryptFest in partnership with Concert Artists Guild, featuring CAG artists past and present, including Jennifer Koh (November 3), Owls (November 9), Jiji (November 28), and Empire Wild (November 30), with programs and additional artists to be announced later in the Fall.

See you in the Crypt!
Andrew
