Jennifer Johnson Cano is no stranger to the darker side of opera… whether singing Offred in Poul Ruder's The Handmaid's Tale in a gymnasium in Boston, or Gregg Kallor’s take on Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart in a Brooklyn Catacomb, Cano digs deep into drama and somehow finds strength in the madness. For this very special Crypt performance, she and superstar pianist Renate Rohlfing present a program of song cycles culminating in Schoenberg’s haunting Book of the Hanging Gardens.
